Enviro was introduced in 2016 with a clear mission: Eliminate the complexity of advanced measurements techniques and enable users to thoroughly focus on groundbreaking research and value-adding metrology.

All Enviro products are based on the unique expertise and technical developments created at SPECS Surface Nano Analysis GmbH in over 40 years.

The first product release EnviroESCA was a milestone by being worldwide the only system to implement Near Ambient Pressure Photoelectron Spectroscopy (NAP-XPS) technology in a fully automated and easy-to-use way. This breakthrough enables new types of samples and experiments, allowing in-situ and operando measurements to study materials under their actual operating conditions. This achievement fulfilled the vision originally conceived by Nobel laureate Kai Siegbahn in the early 1970s: applying this powerful element-specific technique XPS/ESCA to liquids and solid-liquid interfaces.

Following on this success, in 2022 the EnviroMETROS metrology tools were launched. These systems utilize the higher-energy method Hard X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (HAXPES) to offer powerful, non-destructive capabilities to be used in R&D or process quality control with high-throughput demands. They include quality assurance of coatings, layer thickness tests, and comprehensive chemical analysis of the surface and interfaces.
