Celebrating a Decade of Nanonis 5th generation Systems: Looking Back and Ahead

Exactly ten years ago, on June 14, 2013, we delivered the first Nanonis Base Package 5 to a customer in Japan. Today, we proudly reflect on our journey as over 800 customers worldwide have chosen our fast, advanced Nanonis 5^th generation systems, including Nanonis Mimea and Nanonis Tramea. With the Nanonis' Mimea BP5 and BP5e being the most widely used SPM control system, our total count of Nanonis systems, spanning multiple generations, now reaches an impressive 1300 units.

One of the key factors contributing to this success story is the unique architecture of the Nanonis system. From its inception, the system was designed to be continuously improved and adapted to both technological advancements and the evolving needs of our customers. Over the past decade, invaluable input from the very agile SPM community has fuelled our development, leading to numerous significant upgrades and updates.

Thanks to the constant evolution of our software and the hardware overhaul introduced with the BP5e in 2019, our Nanonis Mimea BP5e continues to lead the way and even after a decade, it remains at the forefront of its field. However, the journey doesn't end here: The Nanonis system architecture still holds considerable potential. Our developers are currently working on implementing the next round of updates.
