About Nanonis

Since 2002 – Cutting Edge Scanning Probe Microscopy and Quantum Transport Measurements

Nanonis was founded in 2002 by a small team of research scientists in Zurich, Switzerland who believed that the complexity of advanced lab systems should no longer stand in the way of groundbreaking scientific research.

Their vision was to build the most user-friendly and powerful SPM control system that provides not only the highest data quality but also ultimate system stability. Consequently, Nanonis pioneered the use of FPGA technology to create the first fully integrated digital SPM control system. Now the user could operate a microscope entirely via a software interface “Cockpit”. This opened the door to a reliable and logically structured workflow in experiments.

Nanonis' defining strength was and remains in the true connection with its users and their labs, which creates a vital feedback loop.

This understanding and knowledge led to new features driven by real-world scientific needs and finally resulted in the release of more than five major, improved versions since the beginning.
